Mr.
Bernard Jr. has been with the firm for his entire legal career which
began in 1976. Mr. Bernard Jr. practices primarily in real estate,
estate planning and not-for-profit law. In connection with real
estate, his duties include negotiating and preparation of real estate
sales contracts and leases, financing documentation, deeds, closing
statements and documentation and related matters; analysis of title
commitments and the easements, restrictions, liens, surveys and
related matters listed thereon, including negotiation for indicated
modifications or releases thereof; and post closing follow up duties.
He also conducts non-judicial foreclosure sales, and prepares and
files mechanic’s liens in several states. |

His estate planning work includes creation and funding of trusts
(revocable and irrevocable), preparation of wills and estate plans,
Generation Skipping Transfer Tax planning, titling of assets, estate
liquidity issues and related estate planning considerations. His work
in the not-for-profit field includes serving as counsel for large and
small foundations. Mr. Bernard Jr. is active in the civic community
and serves on the Boards of several nonprofit organizations.
Mr. Bernard Jr. received his
undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in 1973 and his law
degree from Creighton University School of Law in 1976. He is a
member of the Missouri Bar.
