Mr. Hurwitz has been in private practice since 1952.
He received his B.A. from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1949, and his L.L.B. from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1951. He received his L.L.M from New York University in 1952.
Special achievements, recognitions or accolades
For over 24 years he presented the estate and gift tax portion of the annual tax update seminar sponsored by the Law School of UMKC and the Lawyers Association. He is the 2004 Recipient of the Donald Chisholm Award presented by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation in recognition of his involvement in local charitable activities. He has been a frequent speaker before the Estate Planning Councils and at University and Bar sponsored continuing legal education seminars. He is past president of Jewish Family Services of Kansas City and has served on the Disbursement Committee of the Oppenstein Brothers Foundation since 1977.
Mr. Hurwitz has served as president of the Lawyers Association of Kansas City, the Estate Planning Council of Kansas City and the Heart of America Tax Institute. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Missouri.
